Field Notes

Short notes on walks, photos and small things worth remembering.

Morning fog by the river

The fog stayed low over the water until nearly ten. Everything past the second bridge simply disappeared, and the sound of the traffic went with it. Good light for slow pictures.

Notes on an old film camera

The shutter still sticks at 1/1000, but everything slower is fine. Thirty-six frames make you choose more carefully than any memory card ever did.

Late summer garden

Tomatoes finally ripe, basil gone to seed, and the sunflowers taller than the fence. Next year: fewer courgettes.
